Getting through a tough patch...
Recently a lady came along and donated a whole load of food to the Food Bank for which we are truly grateful! She knew what it was like to be in a tough spot financially and how important a food bank was in her situation to help her through. Now she wants to help others and shares her story of how she had to change her spending habits to get through a really tough time
"Twenty years ago my daughter and I were left with little money, bills to pay and a small amount of food in the cupboard. We decidied to make a game of shopping to feed ourselves! We purchased the cheapest frozen sausages, then turned them into curry, casseroles, roast dinners, sausage and mash and even found a way of turning them into a cottage pie. We made fruit crumbles from cheap tinned fruit, crumble mix and instant custard. We had to do this for many years and I still practice shopping for bargains, so does my daughter, but only bargains that you use!
In the hard times a few things I remembered to KEEP WARM and eat, and most important was the love between my daughter and I . i know that at that time in our lives we were brought closer together."
